Blog Assignment 5 - Course Development

Through studying module 7, 8, and 9, I have realized many interesting and challenging aspects of developing an original course.  I have learned that there are many copyright laws that have to be followed when including work from other individuals, and I have learned that it is much better to provide the actual link to someone else's work.  I have learned that there are many ways to include information in a course; furthermore, there are many technologies that I have looked over but have yet to master.  Lastly, module 9 taught me that printed material or printable material is a must have in distance education.  I know that I like material that I can print and hold on to, but I thought that the availability of printed material was the instructor's choice.  With that being said, I am trying to organize my course this week and find material (even printable) that does not violate copyright laws.  I am also trying to write appropriate instructions for each assignment, so I believe organizing material and writing instructions are my items of interest.  However, I am concerned with my ability to do everything correctly and to the right degree.  I am going to try to get my module development assignment done a week in advance, so I will have a chance to receive feedback.

  1. Lacie,
I share your concern for the accuracy and degree of completeness of the course. I think you are smart to get it done ahead of time to allow for critiquing and feedback. I am going to try to do so as well. I think the work we put into our outlines was well worth it because if we just stick to them, we should be able to complete every aspect needed for our courses. Good luck with everything, I'm sure you'll do well!
